Happy Birfday, Kevin! You Silly, Stank-Ass Bish!! Dang... No, I din't.

So, Saturday was my Birfday. The day of my Birf. The day in which I was birfed. And it was grand. I shall tell you a bit about it in a pending post, but until then, I wanted to share with you two things that two different friends shared with me for that day.

First of all, some hipster Disney Carolers singing "Happy Birfday" to me. Indirectly through another "Kevin" from Connecticut - thus the crazy "Connect-ect-ect-ect-ti-cut-cut" at the end of their rendition. But, otherwise, I'm certain that they were just singing this to me. Thanks, LeLannie!

And another friend sent this "Promissory" wisdom. And I can only imagine what heaven would come from its wide spread use.

PROMISE YOURSELF

* To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
* To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
* To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
* To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
* To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and expect only the best.
* To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
* To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
* To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
* To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
* To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

Friday Night Videos And Kiki

I've been feeling kind of funky the last few days. All the news is rattling me... So, I thought, what better way to brighten my mood then watching complete strangers mess themselves up!?

Am I right? See? I know... me too.

So, I began a search of some video clips for us...

Dude... You are such a total dumbass. But, thank you.

Now, before we go on, just for the record, I DON'T like seeing people get hurt. You know, like I don't want to see them smack their face into a pole, or get run over by a motorcycle, or I don't want to see them practically snap their neck. Stuff like that. I don't like it.

But, what I DO like is when people just fall down. ESPECIALLY if they're doing something really stupid to begin with. And you don't have to tell me, I already know I'm going to hell, which is fine with me. At least I'll know everyone when I get there.

Well honey, that's great that "Extreme Home Makeover" was in your front yard, but that's no reason to run down your front steps with your eyes closed."

So, I was starting to get cheered up by now. Then, there's this next compilation set to music. And I'm sure that you'll recognize some of the topples. But, they're worth seeing again. Just for old time's sake.

So yes. I got a good chuckle, it's true. And I hope you have as well.

But then...

THEN, there was Kiki, a young Haitian boy who smiled after being lifted from rubble after being trapped for over a week. And I was humbled. Truly humbled again... by how fortunate I really am.

After so much heartbreak and tragedy, this was a rescue that inspired the masses. When asked why he smiled so broadly, Kiki responded, "I smiled because I was free, I smiled because I was alive."

That's reason to smile indeed.

What Things Come From An Ass

On my recent post, More Sunday Morning Worship, Anonymous said...

"You guys are fuckinng idiots."

SO, I replied,

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I LOVE YOU!!

"oh small balls Anonymous, small-minded, half-witted Anonymous, demonstrating it so, simply because you're "Anonymous"? Thank you for the morning laugh, truly. "fuckinng" TWO "N's"!!!

"And you're calling US idiots.

"Please... forgive me. I love irony.

"Do you know what that is?"

I've included a link for the definition if you don't.

So, it's certainly okay for you to think I'm an idiot. I've been called much worse and after going through everything I've gone through in my life, your little comment has become nothing more than fodder, so I thank you for that.

Do you know what that is? "Fodder"? I've included a link for the definition if you don't.

I don't really appreciate you implicating my friend who made a comment on that blog. She's an incredibly beautiful person and doesn't deserve to be called an "idiot". But, I also know that she's gone through quite a bit in her life as well, so she'll no doubt consider the "Anonymous" source and not take you seriously.

OH, I may have gotten ahead of you, forgive me... Do you know what "implicating" means?

I've included a link for the definition if you don't.

ANYWAY, I usually try to leave something positive for my readers or at least something funny... You know, in my own idiotic opinion. (Now, don't get confused, that's the same word you used, but in the form of an adjective. You used it in the form of a "noun", Napoleon Dynamite. GOSH!)

But again, it's that "irony" thing I LOVE. (Please refer to above link for definition if you've forgotten the meaning.)

So, thinking you're a bit of an ass, I leave you with some inspiring words...

If you don't Believe
You don't Succeed
If you won't Apply
You won't Achieve

OH, and one more thing. Just because I can tell you're a dog lover...

Not To Dwell, But To Remember...

I know I tend to rant and rave occasionally. Okay, okay, maybe a little more than "occasionally".

But, Michelle Obama's family story is right on about what I love about the American possibility, the American experience, the American DREAM.

While much of the world will waste no time in trying to push someone down, they can't be kept down forever. So, it'd be nice if more of us tried lifting one another up more often than not. And then, maybe we'd really get somewhere... together.

IMAGINE the possibilities...

Spanking Monday

GOOD MORNING AND HAPPY MONDAY, you Supastar you...

Take THAT, MONDAY!!!

'Cause this one's bigger than this one. And Monday ain't so tough.

DO YOU HEAR ME, MONDAY???

You ain't so tough.

So, do what you have to do to prepare...

Whatever that might be.

And remember that

only a fool hesitates.

So, wrestle those demons that are whispering doubt in your ears... telling you that you're not good enough... that you don't deserve it. Whatever IT may be. And punch 'em in the boobs! YEAH, TAKE THAT, BOOB!

And even if

it doesn't quite turn out how you planned.

The time's going to go by anyway, regardless of what you do... Time keeps its own time.

So, you'll get back up and dust yourself off.

And do what you have to do to prepare...

Whatever that might be.

And remember it's good to surround yourself with people who will dance with you no matter what.

Don't waste time on the others.

And even if you don't quite reach your destination, you'll be headed in the right direction. Because persistence still pays off. And knowing that you did your best, you'll be able to feel rest assured that you'll be a SUPASTAR in the most important of eyes...

Your own.

The Wolves

So, we did indeed have the extreme pleasure of listening to Judy Shepard speak the other night at UC Santa Barbara.

It was heartbreaking. And inspiring. And she was funny... And courageous... And honest.

She ended the event with this Cherokee fable. You may have heard or read this before, but I had not. And I thought it was worth sharing with you...

The Wolves Inside You

An elder Native American was teaching his grandchildren about life. He
said to them, "A fight is going on inside me.. it is a terrible fight and it is
between two wolves. One wolf represents fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret,
greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false
pride, superiority, and ego.

"The other stands for joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity,
humility, kindness, benevolence, friendship, empathy, generosity, truth,
compassion, and faith."

"This same fight is going on inside you, and inside every other
person, too"
, he added.

The Grandchildren thought about it for a minute and then one child
asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"

The old Cherokee simply replied... "The one you feed."
