Just a Day...
Another cold, foggy day in the middle of August in Santa Barbara, California. I woke up at 3 am with allergies that almost blew me off the face of the Earth. After sneezing until dawn from all of the non-native plants that are planted here, I went back to bed for a while so I wasn’t a zombie for the rest of the day.
I awoke about 45 minutes later destined to be a zombie. I fed the birds and took the dogs out. One of the dogs had diarrhea, which was a blast (all pun intended) to clean up. I took the dogs to the beach for a relaxing walk, which was until we were on our way back to the car and a 12 year old little girl almost ran us over on her bike. I’m not kidding. She was like a kamikaze cyclist or something. And I'm not talking that we were in a narrow path. Oh no! There was seriously at least 30 feet in width of this particular area that joined 3 paths. I moved us all the way to one side to give her some room and she comes barreling to with-in a couple of inches of us. She totally almost took us out! That little whore. What the hell? And I said to myself, 'Evil knows no age'. Speaking of which, she’s lucky I didn’t stick something in her spokes. Next time, she better be prepared to eat dirt.
So, when we get home, 4 out of 8 paws have tar on them. There’s natural tar seepage at the beaches in Santa Barbara. It’s as nasty as it sounds. I just recently saw that Santa Barbara beaches are among the most beautiful in the U.S. Says who? The oil companies? Granted, Santa Barbara is stunning, a very surreal landscape. However, the beaches themselves are crap. Try wiping tar off of 4 dog paws and I think that you may agree with me. At least they didn’t roll in it. I've actually come in from swimming before and had tar on my forehead! Nice. Chunks of tar floating around just waiting to stick to something, or someone.
I thought about that little girl trying to run us over again, it pisses me off. I wonder what she had for breakfast? Something aggressive with sugar, no doubt.
I fed the dogs and went back to bed.
I'll try again, next time I wake up.
