A Perfect Post Award

Mamma Loves bestowed upon me so graciously today, this:

A Perfect Post – January 2007

It was for this post.

To say that I'm flattered is an understatement. I had written back to Mamma this morning that I was THRILLED that she was so touched by the post that she even remembered it, let alone gave me an award for it.

When I first began blogging, it was at the severe urging of Jim Kukral. He's a true, true friend and I consider myself extremely fortunate to have Jim and Doreen, his wife, in my life.

I was reluctant to begin blogging, back in the day. I wasn't so sure of this new medium in writing and publishing. So, when I first began blogging, it was all because of Jim. I honestly was completely FREAKED OUT that my work was on the web.

After a little bit of time, I began to warm up to the idea more and more. And then something strange happened. I began to receive some emails from people I didn't know. I HAD NO FUCKING IDEA WHO THESE PEOPLE WERE!! Tracy was the first. She's originally from South Africa and is now living in London. Tracy, if you still read this blog, HELLO! AND THANK YOU!!! (I probably scared her away ages ago.)

I bet she has no idea how much her simple email thanking me for my writing has done for me. How much it inspired me, to think that I could inspire others. Or make others laugh over this crazy internet with my nuts-o stories. Or connect them with issues that I'm passionate about. Or maybe just to let them know that they're not alone. Because that's what it's done for me...

So, when Tracy wrote to me that day, and then a few more emails came in, and then a few more...and then the whole blogging world opened up in front of me. And now today, with this award, it reminds me how important acknowledgement is, to ACKNOWLEDGE others. And to be ACKNOWLEDGED. Even if you're just passing someone on the sidewalk.

So, thank you. I'm truly honored.
